“Miratorg” increases corn area by 18% to 92 000 ha in 2018
Bryansk, May 15 – “Miratrog”, Russia’s biggest beef producer, increases corn area in Bryansk, Oryol, Kaluga, Smolensk, Tula regions by 18% to 92 000 thousand ha in 2018 year.
“Miratorg” has built from the scratch vertically integrated beef production chain: from field to fork. The company operates over 90 farms, two feedlots and the country largest beef processing plant. Corn is a key element for cattle nutrition and ensures a high level of beef marbleness. The company has been steadily increasing crop area to meet the demand for high-quality corn from growing Aberdeen Angus herd that aims toreach 1 million heads by 2024. This year the company plans to obtain over 190 thousand new-born calves a 14% increase from the previous year
With their high nutritive values, corn silage and rolled grain are the key components of the cattle ration on the farms and fattening stations. Silage improves animal digestion and facilitates better digestion of other roughages – hay and haylage. Rolled corn is used for cattle fattening on the feedlots. The agribusiness holding plans to conserve in 2018 more than 2,3 million tons of corn silage and 199 thousand tons of rolled grain.
