Miratorg increases the Aberdeen Angus herd by 166 000 calves in 2017
Bryansk , December 5th –Miratorg, the largest beef producer in Russia, receives an unprecedented for the domestic beef cattle industry yield of more than 166 thousand Aberdeen Angus calves in 2017.
The company operates over 70 cattle ranchos in Bryansk, Smolensk, Oryol, Kaluga, Tula and Kalinigrad regions with a total herd exceeding 500 000 heads. Miratorg built from the ground up the vertically integrated production of beef “from field to fork”. The company proceeds with the construction of new farms and feedlots with an aim of increasing the total herd to 1 million heads by 2020.
The cow herd produces the commercial stock for fattening, slaughter and processing, as well as the replacement heifers used to increase the herd and replace the cows which withdraw due to natural causes.
“The cattle stock and cow herd substantial growth is enabled with our own resources- we do not purchase cattle stock abroad. The persistent work to reproduce the cattle stock is carried out with allowances made for the high standards of veterinary control and biosafety. Increasing of the meat products manufacturing depends on the level of the herd reproduction organization. It is important that all the “cow-calf” production chain is arranged efficiently with due regard to Russia’s climatic conditions and the infrastructure is expanding permanently to ensure the cattle stock necessary growth rates”, the Miratorg Press Service says
