Miratorg is investing a billion roubles in a new cattle farm in Nemansk Region of Kaliningrad.
Kaliningrad, 5th October. Miratorg – the leading cattle production company in the Region – has announced it is investing one billion roubles in its seventh cattle farm in the Region at Vetrovo village, in Nemansk District.
Miratorg began its vertically-integrated meat production business from scratch, using its business model 'from field to fridge'. The Holding is now planning to increase its cattle-farming operations by more than double by 2020– and the Kaliningrad Region is one of the key areas in which this policy will be carried out. Farms in Kaliningrad Region fulfil a crucially important function – raising young calves, and boosting the breed-stock in the “cow-to-calf” cycle.
Over the six of its high-tech cattle farms, Miratorg raises 45 thousand head of Aberdeen Angus prime beef cattle. The landholding of the corporation rose to fifty-three thousand hectares, covering both the crop cultivation needed to produce fodder, and the pasture grazing for the herds themselves. Once it has built its farm at Vetrovo, in the Nemansk District of the Region, it will become the seventh farm in Kaliningrad Region owned and operated by Miratorg.
The total land area of the farm is more than 5000 hectares, and it will raise more than 5,500 head of breeding stock cattle. Operating the farm to correct standards will mean hiring a further 25 extra staff.
Zhanna Malkova, CEO of Miratorg division in Kaliningrad, said “We're now heavily engaged in the process of cleaning-up the new farm area – clearing the weeds, restoring the drainage, building winter quarters for the animals, and constructing the administrative buildings. By December 2016 we're planning to have completed the first phase of construction, and to introduce the first livestock at the farm. Vetrovo Farm will enable the company to realise its plans for expanding the breeding herd, as part of the interregional project to raise top-quality beef herds in the Region.”
