Miratorg holds all-Russian holiday of beef cattle breeding – Russian Rodeo 2019
Bryansk, September 9 – Miratorg, the largest Russian beef producer, reports that the team from Rognedino district won the sixth Russian Rodeo, where cowboys from Bryansk and Kaliningrad regions participated.
Miratorg has developed from scratch a vertically integrated production of high-quality beef, which includes all the necessary stages: crop production, cattle breeding, meat processing, logistics and distribution. Hundred thousand hectors are returned into land turnover, creating thousands of vacancies with stable and competitive salaries. Thus people can work on their native land nearby their houses and families. The total number of employees of this multiregional project is already more than 11 thousand people, 1600 of which are Russian cowboys aka cattle operators working with beef cattle on the farms of Bryansk, Oryol, Kaluga, Smolensk, Tula and Kaliningrad regions.
Personnel development and their adaptation at the enterprise is the key direction of company’s HR policy. The holding is focused on consistent professional growth of the staff and regularly organizes training programs involving the best international beef producers in order to ensure the efficiency of the project. Miratorg has been organizing a professional tournament known as Russian Rodeo in Bryansk region since 2014. Traditionally, the arena is located on the farm Ledenyovo in Zhukovo district. This year, the operators from Rognedino, Mglin, Trubchevsk, Pochep and Kaliningrad divisions fought for the winner’s cup.
In order to perform daily tasks, the operator has to have skills in horse riding, team roping and loading a bull into a trailer. Aberdeen Angus cattle spend most of their lives in wild nature conditions and have minimum contact with humans. In order to be an operator, you have to have vast knowledge and skills on working with semi-wild animals, i.e. to understand the basics of animal behavior, to determine their health condition and to know how to move cattle correctly, how to catch and transport them.
The main heroes of the holiday became the members of Rognedino team. The competition was hard and close but they won the grand prize – a trip to Brazil. The second was Pochep division and the third – Kaliningrad team. The cowboys showed a sound balance between the speed while doing key elements and the quality of operator work. The jury judged not only their skills, but also compliance with the main criteria of the competition – how safely they handle cattle with minimum stress to animals.
