Miratorg launches Russia first industrial sheep-breeding farm
Kursk, September 21 – Miratorg, Russia largest pork and beef producer, launches the pilot industrial sheep-breeding complex for high-productive sheep stock with a capacity of 30 000 ewes.
Miratorg invested over 200 bln rubles and build from the scratch the vertically-integrated meat production chain “from field to shop”. The company strategy focuses on further increase of production and product portfolio diversification. The unique sheep farm encloses a full production cycle from top-genetics parent stock to feedlot with the most efficient nutrition system.
The company invests over 2,87 bln rubles to build a state-of-the art facility which guarantees constant veterinary control, strict feed ration observance and consistently high meat quality. Lambs are kept at the farm until the age of 4-6 months and weight of 45-55 kg is gained. The facility capacity will allow to keep up to 50 000 heads of sheep and produce up to 3.3 thousand tones in live weight per year.
Utilization of advanced livestock technologies ensures the production efficiency at the leading global producers’ level both in terms of the feed conversion rate and the number of lambs per ewe per year, and the meat production per ewe. The sheep-breeding complex is equipped with water treatment facilities which comply with the international environmental standards.
“Launching of the pilot sheep farm is an important stage in the implementation of the company’s strategy aimed at increasing the production and improving the availability of high-quality meat for consumer. Our country’s meat industry has a high potential for not only to meet the domestic market demands but for export expansion. Effective industrial meat production allows to obtain a product of high-quality and, most importantly, competitive at a price and in demand on global markets. The company considers the possibility of expanding the lamb production after assessing the implementation of the pilot project phase”, Miratorg president Victor Linnik said.
