Miratorg ups meat production by 23,3% and ranked as Russia N2 producer in 2017
						Moscow, August 9 – Miratorg, Russia’s largest pork and beef producer, informs that Agroinvestor magazine names the holding as country’s N2 meat producer as its production increased by 23.3 percent to – 521 thousand tons of slaughter weight in 2017.
The vertically-integrated holding is the largest investor in Russia agro-industry with a total portfolio exceeding 200 bln roubles. The experts are confident the company will continue to increase output: it has already launched a projects to double pig production and plans to increase its cattle stockof Aberdeen angus breed to 1 mln heads.
“The competition grows, as projects being set to launch new facilities with a total capacity of 1 million tons of pork in carcass weight by 2021 " Sergei Yushin, the head of the National Meat Association Executive Committeem us quoted as saying.
“Due to the production development and supply growth, beef becomes more popular and available product", notes Albert Daveleyev, the expert from Agrifood Strategies. – Beef is experiencing a renaissance and enters the shelves in a new form. Miratorg remains the leader in this segment and actively develops sales channels: its own stores, large retail chains, HoReCa, export. This allowed entering a new segment: steers feeding of dairy and meat and dairy breeds. It means that demand for cattle meat allows us to develop outsourcing, not only to build up our assets and competence in the industry”.
In addition, the holding’s range has recently introduced a new product – rose veal, launched by the company in January 2017; lumb production is to be launched until the end of 2018.
“Mutton production will develop however at this moment its customer share is about 2%. For example, in autumn Miratorg starts selling lamb of industrial production, more modern slaughterhouses for sheep and goats appear in the country”, said Sergey Yushin.
